Artificial Intelligence and automotive functional safety – a contradiction?

Regarding the actual automotive safety norms the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in safety critical environments like autonomous driving is not possible. This presentation introduces a new conceptual safety modelling approach and a safety argumentation to certify AI algorithms in a safety related context. The presentation gives an overview about the state of the art regarding the question asked in the title and presents the existing gaps which are still topics for research.
